T-Minus, Um, A Week and a Bit?

So, we be heading to Europe in a week and a tiny bit - not quite a half, more like a week and a couple days.  WHEEE!! I called the relevant banks and credit card companies to tell them of my out-of-country status in the hopes of avoiding any locked accounts when I try to withdraw money or purchase something there.  We met the cat sitter on Sunday (Sofie, mind you, did not - someone decided to play shy.  Someone also just decided to shit on the floor, but that's another story), and I think aside from out of office type stuff, I'm pretty much good to go.  Again, WHEE!!

Did I mention my crazy schedule for this? The day we fly back, we're heading to a wedding in SC.  Like, for that afternoon.  Flight leaves Amsterdam at 8:55 AM, we arrive in Toronto at 11:15 AM (because we're time travelers and flying through time zones MAKES NO SENSE), and then the wedding is at 4:00 PM.  In that time, we need to get through customs, get luggage, go retrieve a bag of wedding clothes we're stashing at Jonathan's aunt's house, and then drive to SC.  There, hopefully by 2:00, there can be naps and showers and Red Bull.  Ah, and the winner of the "Smartest Person Ever" award for this month goes to me, because I've looked into it and: Yes, I can get my nails done at the airport in Amsterdam before our flight, which is a) an excellent way to kill time, and b) perfect, so I don't show up the wedding look feral.  Double thumbs up!  There is SO seldom a wedding, or in fact an event of any sort, in my family, so this should be hilarious.  Seriously, the last thing was ... 16 years ago? I was alive sixteen years ago?! Sixteen years ago.

... Okay, 1995 in Music article on Wikipedia.  WHY do I know all the words to all the songs in the "Top Hits" list and I couldn't tell you the name of three recent songs?  In honour of that last family event in 1995, here's the Hot 100 number one song that week:

Anyways, so that's that.  Work stuff is almost all tied up - I'm incredibly close to getting the whole hiring thing taken care of - and so other than that, I should be able to take off for Europe will relatively little crap holding me back. In fact, now that work craziness is coming to an end, it's looking like a pretty sweet ride 'til the end of the year.

On that note, I have some delicious chili (yay Fall!) and a new Everyday Food magazine (yay October issue!) to go enjoy. Have a good night, everyone, and please, stick the rivers and the lakes that you're used to.

There should be a restaurant with fantastic food and drinks called Proef just a few doors down from where you are staying. Fantastic for a drink at the end of the night. I don't think we went to the "negen straatjes" (9 streets) when you were visiting...but a great area to explore near the jordaan.

have a great trip!

Thanks, Marie! It's on the list! I've double checked (with what Dutch I could cobble together) and the bead store is still open. I hope it's still awesome. Gah, so excited!
